Absolute Toilett
...more like! Thankfully, we don't need the money and Mackie, our runner up player of the year, doesn't need to drop a level. He'd easily walk into half of the premiership teams after his performances last season. Not only for his tireless effort throughout, but also for his crucial, yet classy, goals against the likes of Liverpool (and for about 20 minutes) versus Man City in the biggest game of the season...and not forgetting his two away at Blackburn.
Seems quite possible that Hoilett may come to QPR, but Mackie ain't going anywhere. Besides the R's faithful are curiously anticipating the reenactment of a Benny Hill sketch with Mackie and 3-lung-Park on the pitch at the same time....and Andy Johnson being the little bald bloke getting his head slapped (obviously he's still on the subs bench here) -

I thought Jamie Mackie was
I thought Jamie Mackie was wonderful last season, he totally proved me wrong as I never thought he was good enough for the Prem so don’t get me wrong but I fear we might be moving on from this type of player with some of the buys Sparky has brought in over the summer.
If we do get Hoillet I can’t see where Jamie is going to fit in to be honest.
Great great impact sub, bring him on for the last 25 MINS but technically is he really good enough to start games in the premiership??? I’m not so sure, saying that I would still be disappointed if he left but I can maybe see this happening.

Compensation
Hoillets contract is up but as he has been there since he was a youth player they will be due compensation either agreed by the two clubs or decided by tribunal
the amount according to the press will be around the 4m mark
a similar amount to the price being bandied about for Mackie
I havnt really watched Hoillet play so i dont know if hes better than Mackie or not
Mackie - every time
For me its not a case of who's better. Jamie loves playing for us and made his breakthrough as an international in our colours so a currently happier marriage you'll struggle to find. He's a grafter as well, and Hughes knows the value of a grafter or he wouldn't have signed Park. As for whether Mackie can cut it in the top flight, some people used to say the same about a certain blonde Irish defender of ours, and like him Jamie will improve with experience .
Have as many magicians as you like but a team needs a heart and I'd argue ours is in a Mr J Mackie esq.
"They mostly come out at night, mostly."
Hoilett
I think this is a great signing, assuming it is a done deal. I didn't see a lot of him on TV last year but what I did he looked good. Fast and got a great shot on him. Like SWP from about 10 years ago!
Agree with you that we need another CB. Or he could buy another right back so he can play Onuoha at CB. Luke Young appears to be on the outer with Sparky.

Mackie for Hoilett? I thought Hoilett could go anyway, why would we need to swap?
