RIP and all that
but the Beastie Boys were one of those groups who I never connected with. I think everyone has a list of performers who, for some, though sometimes absolutely no, discenible reason we develop a disdain / dislike toward, yet we can't put a finger on why. The Beastie's were always in my top ten of 'yawns', strangely as I've opted to live in their homeland, most of the groups who do nothing for me are American in origin. As I type I'm having a moment of reflection, It's more than likely that my appreciation of the Ramones initially had me turning up my nose at them, but the couple of gigs where I saw them were....
