I'm liking Colin's tactics and man-management a lot..
I agree
I'm not sure why people get so excited about Ephraim. He's certainly looking stronger than before, but he's still not got enough physical presence OR skill - he's neither one thing or the other. I can't believe people were upset to see him replaced by Buzz, who is both skilful and strong. Fickle bastards, the lot of them. Vine; if enthusiasm was enough, he'd play for England. It isn't.
Monday is give karma to Anonymous day.
Does Colin agree with you?
The only reason Hogan was in the team on Sat was because Buz had been on international duty and didn't get back til Friday, so made sense for him to be sub as Warnock had not seen him in training and could not have worked with him on what he wanted the team to do. Hogan was pointless on saturday and extremely lucky to keep his place last night, because Buz turned the game back in our favour at the weekend.
However, I do totally agree that Hogie has a great attitude and he certainly has flair. But he's not fast enough, not strong enough, doesn't really deliver crosses and isn't much of a goal threat. He's simply not good enough. If he had Lennon's pace, maybe. But he doesn't.
Wha?!
I stick by what I said. Hogan is there because Buz hadn't trained and as Ben says he's kept his place because we were winning. Fine with me, but he's still not very good. Substitutions Schmubstitutions, could be made for any number of reasons and could be purely tactical or whatever.
As for Buz not helping out defensively, I've always thought in that respect he's one of the most conscientious in the team. I think he's a great team player because he tends to do what's right, not what he thinks will look good - if it needs hoofing claer he'll do it. If he has to track back, he will. If he needs to score from 40 yards with a free kick, no probs. Remind me how many goals young Hogie has got this season, hmm?
Also, Hogie is keeping Cookie out the team and I'm not happy about that.
personally
I thought he looked a good player when De Canio was using him as a late addition in the hole, he also managed to gain a quite few plaudits during our recent annus horribilus as one of the few players who seemed to actually give a fuck. He's never had a settled place in the team or even a settled position and I think he'd benefit from both.

Putting Buz on the subs bench and not playing him - Colin shows who's boss, and the result more than backs him up. First clean sheet in 25 games!
Loving the fact he played Adel from the start and look at the pay-back he got. Plus Hogan who I've always rated - whereas many others have slated him (esp. over at the other place), and great to see Lee Cook come on..
