...I don't really care either to tell ya the truth, but I did go there many times. Once, me and sensible old 'clear up your mess' Vic, did some lovely big blue and white graphic art in the away end bogs.

shut at 3:00 in those days.

And Villa were in he second division then.

If Bos means the first time we ever played a top flight team, then I'd say it's Man Utd in the FA Charity Shield 1908. Or in the FA Cup, Bradford City in 1912.

it was a half-finished South Africa Road stand, not Ellerslie Road stand. Just known as "The" stand in those days, being the only one until SAR.

PS. I've spent my entire life wondering why they were called stands, when they were the only ones with seats in.

who commentated on the game for MOTD?..must have been David Coleman or a long shot at Alan Weeks...always looked dapper in his bow tie presenting Pot Black or indeed the Ice Skating from Lauserne...most varied sports commentator ever?

Kenneth Wolstenholme ... I think ...

was the most likely, Coleman mostly did Grandstand and Summer Olympics type stuff then, Alan Weeks mostly did Winter and Summer Olympics.

I have my petrol ration coupons from 1973. Looked like they were left over from 1957. Or possibly 1939-50.

Looked something like this:

I'd sell 'em on ebay, but I might need them soon.

Coleman was probably still getting over Bob Beamon's massive length whereas Weeks was practising his Triple Salchow

Cambers could be out of a job at this rate

was where we got promoted to Div 1 for the first time - last game of the season 67/68. 2-1 win kept us in front of Blackpool on goal trigonometry.

(Dairy update - skimmed milk in Latimer Road now changing hands at five pound a bottle!)
