Almost like two different photos stitched together

Ellerslie and Loftus Road look much as they do today (bet Ellerslie stunk of stale piss back then too) but it's hard to believe that Sth Africa Rd was little more than a footpath, never mind the estate and the Beeb being nowhere to be seen.

I've been glued to the Britain from above site for hours. From a cabbie's perspective, its fascinating to look at the pics trying to work out what roads existed back then and what has changed since. The differences in my patch - Greenwich, Charlton and Surrey Docks are astonishing. They used to be home to Peak Freans biccies, Sarsons vinegar and Hartleys Jam, all big names, all long gone from the area. Even Airfix, thought it was still there but no, checked it tonight and another piece of our heritage wiped out.

my girlfriend was a resident of Cubitt Town. You can imagine my reaction when I first saw how it had turned into Cincinnatti.
